Announcements The General Secretariat of the Central Library

Central Library

Although the establishment of the Central Library of Tikrit University coincided with the founding of the University in 1987, its actual establishment took place in 1989. At that time, its main headquarters was affiliated with the main public library. The library’s presence within the University initially consisted of a simple caravan that facilitated certain administrative tasks and coordination with its main headquarters at the provincial library until 2004, when Professor Dr. Khalid Ismail assumed its administration. He later became the first General Secretary of the Central Library at its new location within Tikrit University.

Subsequently, the Library was administered by several directors who demonstrated remarkable dedication and commitment, contributing significantly to its development until it reached its current status.

Despite the extensive damage and destruction it suffered during the years 2014–2015, the Central Library was able to recover and rebuild through the sincere efforts and devotion of its administration and staff, restoring it to a condition even better than before.

Continuous efforts are still underway to further develop the Library, provide all necessary resources for modernization, and transform it into one of the most distinguished academic landmarks of the University in both form and substance.

Message of the General Secretary of the Central Library

At the outset, I would like to extend a warm welcome to all patrons of the Central Library at our University—Tikrit University—whom we always regard as our esteemed guests. This welcome is extended to all readers and beneficiaries of the Library, including researchers from the academic staff and our dear students, whether they belong to our University or come from outside it. The presence of the Central Library at our University, along with its commitment to providing all requirements of scientific research—such as books, references, theses, dissertations, and other scholarly resources—and to offering an appropriate environment for reading, reflects a genuine determination to work diligently towards achieving excellence. The Library represents a meeting point for researchers from various disciplines and from different provinces, bringing together diverse academic interests under one roof. Accordingly, our Library, through the concerted efforts of all its staff, seeks to unify its endeavors in the service of scientific research by providing a suitable environment, whether through making relevant resources available to researchers or by ensuring a comfortable atmosphere that encourages reading and intellectual engagement without obstacles. Furthermore, the Library strives to organize and introduce numerous scientific, cultural, awareness-raising, and guidance-oriented workshops and seminars that shed light on the University community in particular, and on the local community and the wider world in general, across various fields, in accordance with societal priorities and needs. In conclusion, we endeavor to provide all modern technologies that can bring about a qualitative advancement in the academic level of our dear students, enabling them to compete with the graduates of well-established and reputable universities worldwide.
