The General Secretariat of the Central Library – University of Tikrit Welcomes a Delegation from the Al-Abbas Holy Shrine to Discuss Cooperation on Digital Repositories for Theses and Dissertations
Within the framework of joint scientific and cultural collaboration, the Secretary-General of the Central Library at the University of Tikrit, Asst. Lecturer Abdulatif Sharif, received a delegation from the General Secretariat of the Al-Abbas Holy Shrine, consisting of Dr. Saleh Rikan Al-Hasnawi, Prof. Ahmed Majeed Abdul-Hussein, Prof. Aws Basim Al-Tamimi, and Prof. Mazin Madih Ghazi.
The visit aimed to enhance cooperation in developing digital repositories for theses and dissertations. The discussions addressed several key issues, including the exchange of expertise in electronic archiving and drawing upon the Shrine’s experience in establishing and modernizing digital repositories and academic libraries.
The two parties also reviewed a draft agreement for prospective cooperation, intended to bring about a qualitative advancement in digital library services. The program included a field tour of the Central Library, during which the delegation observed the existing technical infrastructure. Asst. Lecturer Abdulatif Sharif provided a comprehensive presentation on the current digital workflows as well as the planned modernization initiatives.
This visit represents a significant step toward fostering effective partnerships between academic and religious institutions in Iraq, contributing to the promotion of digital culture and the reinforcement of research and knowledge systems within Iraqi universities.
